Terms of Acceptance for care at The Foundation Chiropractic Inc.

When a person seeks chiropractic care, it is essential for both the individual and the chiropractor to be working towards the same objective. Chiropractic care in this office has one objective, it is therefore important that you understand this objective and our means to attain it. In this way there will be no confusion, misunderstanding or disappointment.

Chiropractic care at The Foundation Chiropractic Inc. consists of the assessment, detection and manual reduction/correction of vertebral subluxations with chiropractic corrections. A vertebral subluxation is a misalignment of one or more of the 24 vertebrae in the spinal column or pelvis that causes alteration of nerve function. This interference results in a decrease of the body’s ability to express maximum health potential.

Chiropractic is not a substitute for any medical treatment of any kind, in any way, for any reason. Also, no statement at The Foundation Chiropractic Inc. is intended as medical diagnosis and should not be confused as such. People usually want relief from whatever ailments, symptoms, or conditions are bothering them. If during the course of care, we encounter non-chiropractic or unusual findings, we will bring them to your attention. If you desire advice, diagnosis or treatment for those findings, we will recommend that you seek the services of someone that specializes in that area.

Our expertise is in reducing/correcting vertebral subluxations, allowing your nerve system to work at maximum efficiency. Potential benefits of corrections include restoring normal joint motion, reducing swelling and inflammation of a joint, and improving neurological functioning and overall wellbeing. When the body is functioning better, health challenges, conditions and symptoms may clear up quickly for some people. In others, the process is slower and in some, it is partial or not at all.

Additional supportive procedures such as exercises and nutritional consultations may be recommended.

I understand that chiropractic care is considered very safe with a low risk rate, and is considered one of the safest and most effective forms of care. I understand and I am informed that the risks associated with receiving chiropractic care are minimal.

As with any type of intervention, there are risks. Extremely rare risks associated with chiropractic care include muscle spasm, aggravation or temporary increase in symptoms, disc injury, dislocations, strains/sprains.

There have been rare incidents reported of damage to the vertebral artery during the course of care by physiotherapists, medical doctors and chiropractors. To put this in perspective: the risk of death from taking an aspirin is 0.04%, risk of stroke in the general population is 0.00057% and the risk of stroke following a chiropractic adjustment is 0.00025%. Chiropractic is one of the safest forms of care.

Other options other than chiropractic care that are available to you include: self-care, pain relievers, medical care, physical therapy, acupuncture, injections, or surgery. You also have the right to a second opinion about your health as you see fit.
